Cold weather is coming for those in the north, and keeping your hands toasty is critical! Warm up a scrap of cotton batting containing some scented oil, and slip into these easy-to-sew hand warmers.
Difficulty level: Intermediate
Time to complete: 30 minutes
Age range: 10+
Things you’ll need:
Fancy dinner napkin
Scented oil
Scraps of cotton batting
Scissors
Sewing machine and sewing supplies
Things to do:
1. Cut out two pieces of the napkin to a design that’s about 1/2 ” wider than the width of your hand.
2. Stitch the two pieces right sides together, leaving an opening in one side.
3. Trim three edges, clipping the corners. Keep the edges of the open side untrimmed.
4. Cut a piece of batting that will fit inside the hand warmer. To use, warm in the microwave and sprinkle on some scented oil.
5. Slip the batting into the warmer and fold the flaps inside. To re-use, remove the batting, re-warm, and slip back inside the hand warmer.
