DIY Rustic Paper Heart Garland

Use this darling DIY to add an element of homemade charm to your home this summer. This rustic garland looks beautiful draped over a windowsill or displayed along a countertop.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Age range: 10 and Up
Time to complete: 45 Minutes

Things you’ll need:
Sheet Music
Paper Clips
Heart Pattern
Glue Stick
Scissors
Baker’s Twine

Things to do:
1. The first step is cutting out the hearts to decorate the banner. You’re going to need a lot of hearts, and I’ve found that the easiest way to do this is to paper clip five pieces of sheet music together and trace several heart shapes on the front. When you cut out the pattern you’ve traced, there will be five shapes. This is much quicker than cutting out each heart individually.

2. Fold the heart shapes in half, creating a sharp crease down the middle. It takes five heart shapes to create one heart on the garland.

3. Glue five of the halved hearts together, using a glue stick. Before you secure the final half in place, slip the piece of baker’s twine in the center.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the entire piece of baker’s twine is covered in heart shapes.
