DIY Ribbon Christmas Tree


The styrofoam ribbon tree is a fabulous project for using of your ribbon scraps. You can create this in several colors or decide on a theme – whatever you do, this project is perfect for your holiday table!

Time required: 2 hours
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Styrofoam cone
Sequin pins
Ribbon scraps
Red organza ribbon http://factorydirectcraft.com/catalog/products/1531_2530_1605_1615-9832-112_red_organza_ribbon_25_yards.html
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Cut 80-90 pieces of the 5/8″ to 7/8″ ribbon to 4 inches long each. Cut a piece of the narrower ribbon long enough to wrap around the tip of the cone. Pin in place.

2. Wrap 5 more pieces of narrower ribbon around the cone in regular intervals, as shown, pinning each piece in place. These are your guide ribbons.

3. Pin the first of the 4″-long ribbons along the top guide ribbon.

4. Continue pinning ribbons all along the top.

5. Repeat with the next row, and all subsequent rows.

6. Cut the organza ribbon to 18-24″ and make a bow. Pin to the top of the tree.
