DIY Moon Sand

mood_sand
Moldable sand is all the rage with the toddler set and it couldn’t be easier to make at home. Be sure to keep the sand in an airtight container when not in use so that it doesn’t dry up (a few drops of water can help revive it though!)

Things you’ll need:
1 cup of fine play sand
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup + 1 Tablespoon water
Bowl

Things to do:
1. Mix the water and cornstarch well until you have a smooth paste.

2. Pour in the sand and work the mixture together, adding more water or sand as needed until the sand has reached a moldable consistency.

3. Store in an airtight container when not in.

  1. I can not believe you have this! AWESOME! My son adores moon sand, but sadly half ends up on the floor then in the trash. Im so happy I wont have to shell out tons of money to replace it. Could you add food coloring to it, or should you try find colored sand?

    1. I havent tried to add food coloring to the moon sand ingredients but I was kind of thinking the same idea. You could also try using powdered Kool-Aid. The only thing I was concerned with was if it would stain hands, clothing, etc. But if you make try, please let me know because I would love to know how it turns out for you!
