DIY Halloween Chalkboard Pumpkin


Change the face of your jack-o’-lantern daily! Or write simple messages, or decorate with an all-over design… chalkboard pumpkins allow you to have fun even after you’ve finished painting!

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 30 minutes active, 24 hours of wait/dry time
Age range: 8+

Things you’ll need:
Black chalkboard paint
Paint brush
Pumpkin
Chalk

Things to do:
1. Paint one coat of chalkboard paint onto your pumpkin.

2. Leave the base of the pumpkin unpainted.

3. This is what one coat looks like. Allow it to dry for an hour, and then apply another coat of chalkboard pain. Repeat one more time, for a total of 3 coats of chalkboard paint.

4. Allow your pumpkin to cure” for 24 hours after the third coat. Next, rub a piece of chalk all over the pumpkin to prime it for writing later.

5. Rub off the chalk until the pumpkin is mostly clean. Now, write and decorate away with your chalk!
