DIY Gift Bag

Have you ever had a gift that needed just the right presentation for giving and you just couldn’t find one? Or maybe you’ve had one of those moments (I know I have) when you really need a gift to be wrapped NOW but you don’t have a gift bag in the house? Well fear not. Because this project might just be the end to those woes. In fact, you might never buy a gift bag again once you learn how to DIY them. You can use any paper sturdy enough to hold the gift, wrapping paper, scrapbook paper or newsprint are all easily found options, but really, the sky’s the limit.

Time to complete: 10 minutes
Difficulty level: Beginner

Things you’ll need:
Paper
Glue stick
Ribbon
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Roll your paper into a tube, gluing the seam together to join it and then flatten the tube so that the seam is on the backside.

2. Fold up a few inches from the bottom.

3. Open the folded part, pulling the edges into triangles so that the edges meet.
4. Fold the cut edged up to the center and glue in place. This creates the flat bottom.

5. Open the bag up and trim the top to the height you want. Leave the bag in an oval shape or crease the edges to create a boxy bag.
6. Cut two pieces of paper a little wider than you want the handle to be and glue lengths of ribbon, looped, onto each to create the handles. Press the glued paper into the sides of the bag on the inside and press until dry.
