DIY Embroidery Thread Hair Combs

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time required: 15 minutes
Age range: 8 and up

Things you’ll need:
Embroidery thread
Hair combs
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Cut a length of embroidery floss that’s about 24″ long.

2. Wrap the floss around the first two teeth of the comb and tie a knot. Be sure the knot lies on the top of the comb and doesn’t move over to the side.

3. Begin wrapping the floss between the first two comb teeth.

4. When you’ve used about half of the floss, move to the next space in the comb, between the second and third teeth. Continue to wrap the floss around the comb until you have just a few inches of floss left.

5. Cut another 24″ length of floss, this time in a different color if you’d like. Tie the old floss color and the new floss color together.

6. Continue wrapping floss around the tooth combs, changing colors when you’d like and wrapping each 24″ length around two spaces of the comb. Keep wrapping until you reach the end of the comb and have a few inches of floss left.

7. Tie the floss in a knot to secure it.
8. Using scissors, trim the knot ends across the hair comb. Cut as close to the knot as you can without cutting into the knot.
