DIY Doily Canvas Wall Art

The great thing about this doily art is that you don’t have to worry about being perfect! This technique creates an abstract-looking doily print that you can hang individually or as a set of four.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time required: 20 minutes, plus time for paint to dry
Age range: 12 and up

Things you’ll need:
4 mini canvases
Small poly foam brush
Ivory round crocheted doily
Bimini Blue Acrylic Paint or color of your choice
Krylon Silver Foil Metallic Spray Paint

Things to do:
1. Protect your work surface with a covering. Using the foam brush and acrylic paint, paint each mini canvas with two coats of paint. Don’t worry too much about covering the entire surface perfectly and evenly. This is the color that your doily will be once you’re finished, and most of the surface will be covered by spray paint later.

2. Once the second coat of paint has dried, place all four canvases together in the shape of a square with two on top and two on the bottom.

3. Place a doily over the square, centering the doily as best you can. Smooth it out to make sure there are no wrinkles.

4. In a well-ventilated area, spray paint all four canvases, covering the entire area around the doily as well as the holes in the doily.

5. Allow the paint to dry.

6. Remove the doily from the canvas.

7. Hang your set of doily art. You can hang the canvases individually, side by side, or as a set with spaces between them.
