DIY Craft Foam Block Printing

Block printing is a fun craft to get into, but if you’re just dipping your toe in, this simplistic block printing technique can give great results with low tech materials. Great for printing on fabric, paper or solid materials, you can customize your print to whatever shape you can dream up.

Things you’ll need:
Craft foam
Block printing brayer (you can dab the paint on with a foam brush as well, but a basic brayer is a good investment)
Block printing paint or thick acrylic paint
Cork tiles, wood block or something for a base
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Scissors
Pen and ruler

Things to do:
1. Using the ruler and pen, draw out the letters (or shapes) you want for your print.

2. Carefully cut them out, keeping in mind that any rough edges will transfer to the print.

3. Glue the print backwards to the block or cork tile. You don’t need a lot of glue, just enough to hold it in place.
4. Lightly coat the paint onto the brayer, roll it over the block until the image is well coated.

5. Stamp onto your chosen material, applying even pressure to transfer the paint to the material.
