Decorative Color Block Painted Eggs Tutorial

Easter eggs are a classic Easter decoration. Create unique egg decorations to match your personal decorating style.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time required: 2 hours
Age range: 8+

Things you’ll need:
Wooden eggs
Paint
Paint brush

Things to do:
1. Decide on a color palette for your eggs. I went with classic Easter/Spring colors: teal, pink, yellow.
2. Paint some of your eggs solid colors. (Paint one thin coat of the desired color over the whole egg. When the first coat is completely dry, add a second coat of the color. Repeat the process until the desired shade is achieved. Be sure to allow the egg to thoroughly dry between coats of paint for best results.)

3. To create a striped look: Paint the bottom third of the egg yellow. Let the first coat dry. Repeat as needed until the desired shade is achieved.

5. Paint the top third of the egg teal. Let the first coat dry. Repeat as needed until the desired shade is achieved.

6. I chose to leave the middle stripe on my egg natural. You may also choose to paint this stripe a third color. If so, repeat the steps above for achieving the desired shade.
7. Play around with various colors and patterns to create as many unique eggs as you would like. Chevron patterns or dots would be some more fun ideas to try!
