Decorated Mouse Pad

If your desk is looking a little blah or you have a daddy (or grandparent) who needs a little cheering up at work, a mouse pad with little fingers and hands on it is just the ticket. Be sure to use fabric paint which will soak into the fabric of the mouse pad and which will not interfere with the use of the mouse.

Things you need:
Fabric covered mouse pad
Fabric paint
Foam brush
Ball point pens

Things to do:
1. Paint a thin coat of fabric paint directly onto one of your child’s hands and press around the outer edges of the mouse pad, adding more paint with each handprint.

2. Wash and dry hands and repeat the process with fingerprints near the center of the mouse pad. (you’ll only need a few finger prints and they should be spaced out a little)
3. Using the ballpoint pen, turn the fingerprints into people, animals and funny scenes. (If you need inspiration, look in any of Ed Emberly’s Thumbprint books!)

4. Allow the paint to dry before using! (no need to heat set since you wont be washing the mouse pad!)

  1. This is a unique gift, especially for grandchildren living far from their grandparents. Its easy to do with a bit of help from the parents. I have several from my grandchildren. It doesnt cost much to make but I guarantee each one is priceless.
