When it comes to adding airy elegance and breezy, Victorian romance, it’s hard to top lace doilies. If you’re lucky enough to have vintage doilies stowed away but aren’t sure what to do with them, doily headbands and floral centerpieces are perfect everyday uses for enjoying these handcrafted masterpieces. If you don’t have vintage doilies on hand, pre-made doilies serve as an economical alternative.

Doily Headbands Things You Need:
4″ Lace Doily
Embroidery floss
Headband

1. Shape the doily into a flower by pinching in the middle, and then tie at the base with embroidery floss (or any thread).
2. Continue wrapping embroidery floss around the flower’s base until the blossom is as tight as you like. Do not cut the floss.
3. Wrap the floss around the headband several times, criss-crossing as you go to keep the flower from drooping. Secure with several knots, and then trim excess thread.

Doily Bouquets Things You Need:
Lace Doilies
Embroidery thread
Dowel Rods
Floral Tape

1. Wrap dowel rods with floral tape. Then, make lace doily flowers using the technique above.
2. Secure doily flowers to dowel rods by wrapping with several lengths of embroidery thread.
3. Display in an oversized vase. For added interest, you can cut your dowel rods to different heights to make your arrangement.

Enjoy bringing old-world charm into any space with these elegantly simple lace doily crafts!
