Children’s Art Cutting Board

If your kids are anything like mine, they are pretty prodigious when it comes to the creation of art. And while it might seem like this profusion of art will last forever, it really wont, some day they’ll be too busy and too grown up for those sweet doodles. So here’s a way to save some of your favorite drawings forever and make something useful in the process! These make excellent gifts for grandparents, aunties and uncles or even teachers as well so gather those drawings and get to work!

Difficulty level: Moderate
Time required: 45 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Cutting board
Kids art
Trace paper
Pencil
Wood burning tool

Things to do:
1. Lay a piece of trace paper over the drawing and trace it with your pencil, pressing heavier than you normally would to deposit more graphite onto the paper. If your drawing has words, you’ll need to flip the trace over and retrace the image on the back side of the trace, otherwise you’ll have a mirror image of the art.

2. Flip the trace paper onto the cutting board and color over the drawing, this will transfer the drawing onto the board.

3. Plug in your wood burner with a tip that will work well for your particular piece of art.

4. Trace the image using your wood burner. If desired, add a date and name and oil the cutting board with cutting board oil.
