Create a fun, rustic, reusable ornament that can be used during the holiday season, or all year long!
Difficulty level: Intermediate
Time required: 10 minutes
Age range: 8+
Things you’ll need:
Mason jar ring
Chalkboard paint
Cardstock/cardboard
Jute twine
Paint brush
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Pencil
Things to do:
1. Using your jar ring, trace the inner circle on to your cardstock, and cut out.
2. Paint your circle piece with your Chalkboard Paint and allow to dry.
3. While your circle is drying, use your jute twine to wrap the outside of your ring. Start by hot gluing the end of your twine to the outside of ring and then wrap until you reach your desired thickness, then hot glue the end to your twine.
4. Create a loop from your twine to create an ornament hanger. Attach to the inner backside of your ring.
5. Add any embellishments or additions to your lid, such as bows created using your twine.
6. After your chalkboard paint has fully dried, hot glue it to the inner back side of your ring–make sure to push it all the way forward, so that it fits snuggly inside.
7. Decorate using your chalk or chalkboard pen.
