Air Dry Textured Tags

Every year we try to make interesting gift tags for all the gifts that go under our tree. It helps make every day wrapping paper a little more special and often the tags can be later used as ornaments as well. This year we’ve been playing with salt dough, air dried and textured with stamps and the results are great!

Things you’ll need:
Salt dough (1 cup flour, 1/2 cup salt, 1/2 cup water)
Stamps
Straw
Bakers twine
Cookie cutter

Things to do:
1. Roll out the dough on a flat, lightly floured surface to a 1/8 inch thickness. These work best if you cut all the shapes out on the first roll instead of rerolling the dough several times.

2. Stamp the dough all over with your stamps, overlapping to create interesting textures.
3. Cut out shapes with cookie cutter to best display the texture then using the straw, cut a hole near the top of the shape.

4. Lay the shapes out to dry, flipping the shapes every few hours so that they dry all the way through but remain flat as they do so.
5. Once dry (this can take a few days depending on the humidity in your house) thread with bakers twine or narrow ribbon and write your gift’s to and from on the back.
