Fall is here and we’re celebrating the season with this festive DIY! In a few simple steps, you can upcycle a mason jar into seasonal candy storage or a fun piece of decor.
Difficulty level: Beginner
Time to complete: 20 minutes
Age range: 12 and up
Things you’ll need:
Mason jar
Orange paint
Foam brush
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Artificial leaves
Wooden knobs
Rusty wire
Wire cutters
Things to do:
1. First, paint your mason jar orange. If you’re using acrylic paint instead of glass paint, apply a thick coat. If you try to add a second layer, the paint will peel up.
2. Use hot glue to attach an artificial leaf to the center of your mason jar lid.
3. Use hot glue to attach your wooden knob to the lid. Place it directly in the center, so it covers the seam where your leaf is glued to the lid.
4. Cut a 10-inch piece of wire and wrap it around your wooden knob. Wrap the tails of wire around a pair of pliers to curl them.
