Whimisical Altered Art Christmas Mailbox

One of the first things children think of when it comes to holidays are presents… and in order to get presents we all have to write our list, right? Today I am sharing a special Holiday craft that can be made with your kids or even just for some whimsical decor, and is the perfect place for those Santa letters.

Things you need:
Paper Mache Mailbox
Foam Brush
Mod Podge
Christmas Stickers
Washi Tape (optional )
Ribbon
Patterned Paper

Things to do:
1. First use your mailbox as a template to trace and measure the areas you will want covered by your patterned paper.
2. Cut and glue your patterned paper pieces to the mailbox. Designer Tip: I found it easier to remove the golden hardware before tracing and adhering my pieces. I then went back through the inside of the mailbox and made holes with a paper pierce tool so I could easily attach the hardware once the paper had dried.
3. For the sides of my flap I chose to decorate it with Washi Tape and ribbon, but you could also use more patterned paper here if you preferred.
4. Add stickers/embellishments as desired and you now have a place to mail those Holiday letters in style!

I can’t wait to see my children’s faces the next morning after mailing their letters to Santa, and find that he has left a little treat behind for them… We would love to hear how you are mailing your letters and better yet share any mailboxes you make with products from our store by posting in the comments below or sharing on our Facebook page!

Happy Crafting!
