Washi Tape “Silly String” Easter Eggs

Spring is coming and that means Easter and all the fun of decorating eggs eggs eggs! I love to find new and unusual ways to decorate our Easter eggs and this combines the mess free aspect of washi tape with the look of a string covered egg, plus it’s a great project to do with kids as they can wrap and wind the tape and if the “strings” break, you can just press the end on top of the broken spot and keep winding!

Difficulty level: Easy but requires adult supervision.
Time required: 10 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Washi tape
Craft knife and cutting mat
Ruler
Hard boiled eggs

Things to do:
1. Allow your eggs to cool down to room temperature to help the tape stick well.
2. Stretch lengths of tape out onto your cutting mat, you’ll want it to be at least an inch shorter than your ruler is for ease of cutting.

3. Measure out and cut long, thin strips from the tape using the ruler and craft knife.

4. Peel up the strips one at a time and wrap around the eggs, either in even stripes or in a random pattern. The tape will stretch slightly so can make nice curves for wilder, more abstract looks.

5. Smooth down the tape and get ready for some Easter fun!
