Vellum and Washi Mini Lanterns

Much as I love real candles, with little kids around, I often shy away from having them on the table or even lit when the children are around. So electric tea lights are my go to for a little added ambiance. But straight up battery-operated tea lights are, well, a little boring some days, right? Not a problem, a little vellum, a little washi and those tea lights are turned into sweet little lanterns.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 10 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Battery-operated tealights
Vellum paper
Washi Tape
Scissors
Scallop scissors
Pencil

Things to do:
1. On your vellum paper draw a line about 2 or 3 inches from the bottom.
2. Using your scallop scissors, trim along the line.

3. Wrap the paper strip, scallop edge up, around the tea light, trimming away the excess so that there is a 1/4 inch overlap.
4. Line the washi tape along the bottom edge of the vellum (and half way up if desired) and tape along the surface of the paper around the light to secure.
