Upcycled: DIY Burlap Bulletin Board

Make your own bulletin board using your favorite burlap fabric. This DIY recycles ordinary household materials to create something useful and decorative.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time to complete: 30 Minutes
Age range: 12 and Up

Things you’ll need:
Shoebox lid
Burlap fabric
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Sheet of Cork
Scissors
Sharpie

Things to do:
1. The first step is measuring your shoebox lid. Place it on top of a sheet of cork and trace around the edges. Once you’ve traced your lid, cut out the piece of cork.

2. Next, you’re going to attach the cork to the top of your lid. Use hot glue, starting at the outer corner, to secure the cork sheet.

3. Once the hot glue has dried completely, it’s time to cover the bulletin board in fabric. Lay your lid face down on a piece of fabric and cut the material 2 1/2 inches from the edge of the lid, creating a rectangle that is slightly larger than your lid.

4. Fold the edges of the fabric around the lid, like you’re wrapping a present. Use hot glue to hold the fabric in place. Make sure the fabric is pulled tight so your folds look clean and neat.

5. Once you’ve folded all the edges in, use hot glue to secure any loose ends.
