I live in a part of the world where the possibility of needing a fire roaring away every month of the year is not out of the question. Even in the summer there are nights when a toasty fire is very welcome indeed. So firewood is something that is always in our house. Always. Be sure to start with the box in a flat spot that is within easy reach of the fireplace or woodstove but is far enough away to keep the wood and the box safe. Fill the box 3/4 full with wood on end. Use the remaining space to store smaller pieces of kindling wood or folded paper for starting the fire and you are ready for a chilly evening by the fire.
