Stiffened Fabric Bookmark

I’ve got a serious bookworm in my house, the kind of bookworm who has several books going at once all the time. And I must admit she comes by it honestly since I do the same thing. So bookmarks are a hot commodity around here! These stiffened fabric bookmarks are so fun to make and perfect for kids and adults alike. Start with thin, brightly printed cotton fabrics for the best results.

Difficulty level: Moderate
Time required: 10 minutes plus dry time

Things you’ll need:
Fabric
Stiffy Fabric Stiffener
Scissors
Hole punch
Yarn or ribbon
Wax paper

Things to do:
1. Roughly cut out your fabric into a section that give you plenty of room around each figure.

2. Lay the fabric out on wax paper and spray thoroughly with fabric stiffener. The fabric should be well soaked.
3. Allow the fabric to dry thoroughly. It should be very stiff once dry.
4. Carefully cut out your fabric shapes.

5. Punch a hole near the top of each shape with the hole punch.

6. Tie a length of ribbon or yarn through the hole and trim the ends to finish.
