I have a pair of shoes, they are neither fancy nor well made nor expensive, that are so comfortable and perfect for my style that I wear them many, many times a week. They are my go to shoes. But unfortunately, I’ve worn the toes to smithereens. Since my shoes are no longer available to buy and I couldn’t possibly let them go, a little salvaging was in order. Enter Mod Podge.
Things you’ll need:
Shoes
Painter’s tape
Mod Podge Hard Coat
Fine glitter
Glitter spray
Clear coat
Foam brush
Things to do:
1. Tape off the section of the shoes that you want to glitter. For me this was just the toes but you might consider a different pattern. Smooth out any bubbles and make sure that the tape adheres well.
2. Mix the Mod Podge with the glitter. You want to add a generous amount of glitter so that you end up with a thick glitter paste.
3. Paint a thin coat of the Mod Podge onto the taped off section of the shoe, being careful to avoid the sole. Allow this coat to dry.
4. Once dry, add two more coats, allowing for dry time between, to the shoe so that you have a solid layer of glitter applied to the exposed areas.
5. Masking off the rest of the shoe and working in a well ventilated area, spray a coat of glitter spay over the exposed areas of the shoe to help fill in any gaps and then a coat of clear to seal. Allow the paint to set up completely before wearing.
