How to Make a Ruffled Ribbon Flower

Create this fun and fluffy ruffled ribbon flower and add it to special packages for that girl in your life! The wired ribbon makes this project a snap to complete. Though these instructions are for a flower that measures about 5 1/2″ – 6″ wide, you can also create this in larger sizes by adjusting the size of the circle.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 20 minutes
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Wired ribbon
Piece of card stock
Scissors
Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
Wire cutters *optional

Things to do:
1. Cut out a 3″ circle from your card stock, and warm up your hot glue gun.

2. Keeping your ribbon on the spool, start to pull the wire on one side, gathering the ribbon.

3. Check your progress to see how much you’ll have to pull to assure the gathered ribbon will be as long as the circumference of your circle.

4. Start gluing your ribbon to the circle.

5. Trim the ribbon once you’ve glued the gathered flower in place.

6. Repeat the process for the second, and then third, layers of ribbon.

7. Fold a small piece of ribbon in half twice for the center.

8. Glue this piece in place for a finishing touch.
