How to Make a Rainbow Pattern Potholder

Sometimes you want a little more color in your life and this is a great way to do that. Make a bright and cheerful addition to your kitchen with this rainbow colored potholder! The trick here is to set up your rainbow in your warp and weave the solid color with the weft. This allows you to adjust the balance of colors easily before you start the actual weaving. The weft color looks great in black or white but this same project could be done with ombre rather than rainbow and a contrasting color would set that off beautifully.

Time required: 10 minutes
Difficulty level: Easy

Things you’ll need:
Loops in both white and rainbow colors
Potholder loom and hook

Things to do:
1. Lay out the warp, the up and down direction of your loom, in a rainbow pattern.

2. Weave the weft, the side to side direction of your loom in white.

3. Using your hook, slip two loops off the loop and onto the hook. Pull the bottom loop up over the top loop and over the end of the hook.

4. Leaving the loop on, slip the next loop onto the hook and again pull the lower loop up and over the end of the hook. Repeat until you have reached the last loop. Pull firmly through to create the hanging loop.
