Puzzle Monster Magnets

We have a secret and abiding love in our house for monsters! From Leonardo the Terrible Monster to some homemade creations so ugly they are cute, monsters are always a big hit with my kids so you can bet this project brought a smile to their faces and I’m sure they will for your kids as well! And bonus! Here’s a way to use up some of those random puzzle pieces that don’t seem to go with anything, always a fact of life when you have young kids around!

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 15-20 minutes plus dry time

Things you’ll need:
Puzzle pieces
Acrylic paint in various colors
Googly eyes, beads, sharpies and other craft supplies
Magnets
Paintbrush
Super glue

Things to do:
1. Most kids love to start with a blank canvas so it’s best to begin by pre-painting all the puzzle pieces one color, here we chose white, and allow that to dry before setting the kids loose.

2. Once the base coat is dry, let the kids add eyes, teeth, hair and other details using their craft supplies. Encourage them to use the shape of the puzzle piece to inspire their monster.

3. When their creations are finished and dry, attach a magnet to the back with super glue and allow it to dry before hanging.
