Paracord Technique: How to do a Thin Solomon Bar

Sometimes you want a thinner finished product on a paracord project than you can create with a double core. Smaller bracelets, pet collars and leashes for smaller animals, this variation on the Solomon bar only uses a single strand for the core. As a rule of thumb, you’ll need 1 foot of contrasting cord (here, the blue) for each inch of the core (here, the red).

Things you’ll need:
Red and turquoise parachute cord – or other colors of your choice

Things to do:
1. Find the center point of the contrasting cord and lay it under the core.

2. Fold one leg over the core to create a C on one side of the core.

3. Fold the other leg down over the first leg.

4. Pull the end of that leg under all legs and up through the C.
5. Pull gently to tighten.

6. One the same side as the knot, repeat the process, creating a C on the same side as the knot.

7. Again, fold the other leg down over the first then bring under and up through the C.

8. Repeat this process until you have the length you are after. Trim and singe the ends.
