Paracord Technique: How to Spool Knit

Dig out that childhood spool knitter and get to work creating a thick, strong, rounded cord with your paracord. Use with three, four, five or six spool spokes for varying thicknesses of finished cord. You can also splice colors along the way by melting two ends together to change colors as you work.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 30 minutes

Things you need:
Red and turquoise parachute cord – or other colors of your choice
Small knitter loom

Things to do:
1. Feed the end of the paracord into the center of your spool.

2. Wrap the cord once around each spoke.

3. Repeat, wrapping a second time around each spoke.

4. Using your hook, draw the lower loop on each spoke up and over the upper loop and toward the center of the spool.

5. Loop the cord again around each spoke and repeat, adding layers and pulling the lower loops over as you go.

6. Splice as needed to change colors or add length.

7. To finish, feed the end through each loop and lift the loop off the spoke. Pull to tighten and secure.
