Painted Key Necklace

Both rustic and refine, simple and textured, these painted key necklaces are easy to make and fun to give or wear.

Things you’ll need:
Rustic keys
1/4 inch ribbon of your choice
Masking tape
Spray paint
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Tape off a portion of the key, rubbing your fingernail along the edge to keep the paint from seeping under.

2. On a covered work surface and in a well-ventilated area, lightly spray the section you have exposed on the key.
3. Allow the paint to dry and repeat with the other side.
4. Continue to turn the key, allowing for plenty of drying time between, and spraying, until the color is solid.

5. Once the key is well-painted and dry, cut a length of ribbon long enough to make a necklace length loop. Tie the loop and bring through the opening in the key, pulling it up through the ribbon loop to secure.
