Oilcloth Paper Technique

Sometimes you find the perfect pattern paper for the perfect project, except what you really needed was something sturdier, like fabric. This technique strengthens paper into something tougher, tough enough to sew into pockets, pouches, zipper bags, ornaments etc.

Things you’ll need:
Scrapbook paper
Clear silicone caulk
Caulk gun
Cardboard scrap or old credit card

Things to do:
1. On a covered work surface, lay out your scrapbook paper. Squirt a line of caulk across the top edge of the paper.

2. Holding the card at a 90-degree angle to the paper, pull the card through the caulk and across the paper to evenly distribute it in a thin layer. Add more caulk as needed until the surface of the paper is covered. Allow it to dry.

3. Flip the paper over and repeat with the backside of the paper.
4. Once both sides are covered and dry, cut, sew, glue, to your hearts content!
