Natural Harvest Bean Candles

It’s fall, the perfect time for family dinners around the table and warm colors and candlelight. This project turns ordinary pillar candles into fall harvest themed decorations that are perfect for those fall dinners or for your autumn mantelpiece. Here we have used split peas and lentils but corn kernels or different kinds of beans would be beautiful as well. You can either tape the glued sections off or apply it free hand for different looks.

Difficulty level: easy
Time required: 10 minutes plus dry time

Things you’ll need:
Grains or pulses
Mod Podge
Masking tape
Pillar Candle

Things to do:
1. On a covered work surface, tape off (if desired) a section of the candle where you want the grains to be.

2. Apply a generous layer of Mod Podge to part of the taped off area and sprinkle with grains, patting them into the glue so that they stay put.

3. Work your way around the candle, adding more glue and grains until the entire thing is covered.

4. Allow the glue to dry before displaying or using.
