Melted Pony Bead Disc

While my kids love to play with Pony Beads till they are blue in the face, we always seem to have a scattered lot of leftover beads that end up in the bottom of the drawer. Well no more! I’m turning those strays into a thing of interest and beauty, or at least the beginnings of one! Turn this basic disc into something even more exciting by draping the still cooling disk over a cup or bowl or use cookie cutters to cut out shapes before it hardens! They sky’s the limit!

Difficulty level: Easy, but requires use of an oven, so adult help is required
Time required: 1 hour

Things you’ll need:
Pony beads
Over proof pan
Foil
Oven

Things to do:
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

2. Fill the bottom of the pan with beads, making sure they are tightly packed in and that the holes are all facing up.

3. Set the pan in the oven on a sheet of foil. Bake for 30-50 minutes or until the beads have melted and there are no holes left in the beads. *Please be sure to remember to open a window or door and turn on your range fan, as it can get a little smokey and stinky as you are baking your beads.
4. Carefully take the pan out of the oven and allow the beads to cool before removing it and using it as a tray or alter the tray while it’s still warm.
