Marker Tie-Dye

My kids have reached the age where they love tie-dye shirts of any kind. And since they are also at the age of ruining shirts at an alarming pace, tie-dyeing can be a miracle when it comes to eking out more use from our clothing (nothing covers grass stains like some bright dye!) This version of tie-dye is easy and low mess, a plus in my book. And you probably have everything you need in the house right now to make it happen! Dye away!

Things you’ll need:
Cotton t-shirt (white works best, but any light color is great!)
Permanent markers
Rubbing alcohol
Freezer paper

Things to do:
1. Line the inside of your shirt with freezer paper, plastic side up, to prevent the ink from soaking through.

2. Draw shapes, words and random dots onto the shirt. Get crazy with color, hold the tip of the pen on a spot for a moment to deposit extra ink.

3. Sprinkle rubbing alcohol all over the shirt and watch as the ink begins to spread. Add more rubbing alcohol if you want more spread.

4. Allow the shirt to dry and then heat set in your dryer.
