Make Your Own Glow in the Dark Playdoh

My kids are absolute suckers for anything that glows. And they are also sucker for playdoh, even though they are way beyond the preschool play time years. So what could be better than glow in the dark playdoh? Well, nothing! Perfect for summer evening fun, this dough is simple to make, lasts well in a sealed container and is buckets of fun. Be sure to store the dough in an airtight but clear jar in the sunlight so that the glow can “charge” during the day for plenty of glowing fun at night!

Difficulty level: Easy, but an adult needs to make the dough
Time required: 20 minutes plus charging time

Things you’ll need:
2 T. Cream of tarter
1 c. Flour plus more for working the dough
1/2 c. Kosher Salt
1 T. Vegetable oil
Water
Glow in the dark paint
Glass jar

Things to do:
1. Mix the first four ingredients in a bowl and then add 1 cup of BOILING water. Stir until you have a sludgy, smooth mixture free of lumps.

2. Turn the dough out onto a floured work surface (it will be hot!) and knead, adding more flour as needed, until you have a smooth, elastic dough. Allow the dough to cool.

3. Re-flour your work surface and begin working in the paint, a tablespoon at a time, adding more flour as the dough becomes sticky. Check for glowyness occasionally by taking to a darker area of your workspace.
4. Once you’ve reached the desired level of glowyness, place the dough in an airtight, clear container (a glass jar works well) and place in a sunny spot to charge up” for a few hours. Once it’s nice and charged, turn off the lights and play away!
