Make You Own Felt Shape Toddler Activity Board

When your toddler is learning shapes, there’s no reason to buy a special kit to help her learn. Make your own felt shape board with this simple but fun tutorial. Enlist the help of an older child, who will have fun making something for his or her younger sibling.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 30 minutes
Age range: 8+

Things you’ll need:
Felt sheets
Hook and loop tape
Card stock
White foam core board or cardboard
Scissors
Pencil and marker
Shapes to trace
Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
Ruler

Things to do:
1. Trace your shapes on the card stock, or draw them using your ruler.

2. Cut out the shapes.

3. Use these templates to draw the shapes on your foam core board or cardboard.

4. Outline the shapes with the marker.

5. Warm up your hot glue gun. Trace and cut out the shapes from the felt.

6. Cut and apply one a piece of hook and loop tape to the center of each felt shape. Apply the opposite piece of hook and loop tape to the shape board. Now hang out with your toddler and match shapes, sticking them down with the fun hook and loop tape! (Please be sure to monitor play so that none of the shapes lands in their mouths!)
