Kid Friendly: Popsicle Stick Spring Chicks Tutorial


Create this whimsical spring craft stick chick and put a smile on your face! You may add magnets to the back or glue it to another stick to use as a puppet. Make several for adorable spring decor!

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 1 hour (includes drying time)
Age range: 8+

Things you’ll need:
Jumbo popsicle sticks
Google eyes
Yellow acrylic paint
Paint brush
Orange craft foam sheet
Yellow craft foam sheet
Regular glue or hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
Scissors
Piece of card stock
Pencil

Things to do:
1. On your card stock, trace around 5 sticks to determine the size to cut. Cut out this rectangle a little smaller than the tracing, and set aside.

2. Paint the sticks with yellow paint.

3. Allow the sticks to dry.

4. Glue the first stick to the card stock.

5. Finish the base of the chick by gluing the remainder of the sticks to the card stock.

6. Cut wings from the yellow foam as shown.

7. Glue the wings to the back of the popsicle stick base.

8. Glue the googly eyes to the front.

9. Cut out a triangle nose, feet, and jagged hair” from the orange foam and glue to the chick to make it come to life!
