Kid Friendly Clothespin and Paper Doily Butterflies Tutorial

This doily butterfly is a good rainy project and can be made with larger or smaller doilies, depending on how large you want the wings to be. Add a magnet to the back if you’d like to hang this project on the refrigerator!

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 1 hour (includes drying time)
Age range: 8+

Things you’ll need:
2 – Paper doilies
Clothespins
Paint brushes
Sequins
Acrylic paint
Pipe cleaners
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Cup of water

Things to do:
1. Fold the doily in half, then in half again – partially, so that there’s extra visual appeal. Repeat with the second doily.

2. Paint the doilies with watered-down acrylic paint. Allow the colors to run together!

3. Paint the clothespin and allow to dry. Warm up your hot glue gun.

4. Cut a piece of pipe cleaner and bend in the middle. Curl the ends and glue to the clothespin. Glue the wings to the back of the clothespin and finish off with a sequin in the center.
