How to Make Your Own Rustic ‘Joy’ Plaque

Spreading joy isn’t just for the holidays! If you have an older piece of wood, dress it up with this welcoming plaque that you can add to the side of your house, garage, or barn. Try some letters other than “Joy” if you’d like – your last name, another saying – anything!

Things you’ll need:
Wood letter J
Wood letter O
Wood letter Y
Acrylic paint
Foam brush
E6000 glue
Sandpaper or a scraping tool to distress the painted letters

Things to do:
1. Place the letters on your wood to decide on placement and size of the plaque.

2. Paint your first letter.

3. Continue painting the remaining letters. Allow them to dry, then distress them with sandpaper or a scraper.

4. Glue into place with the E6000. Make sure to do this outside or in a well-ventilated area. Allow to dry for 24 hours.
