How-to Make Felt Ice Skate Ornaments

If you’ve got a little skate fan in your house, why not make a few of these little felt ice skates for them? Cute on a Christmas tree, they are equally fun dangling from a doorknob, adorning a gift or hanging from a mobile. These can be scaled up or down by using larger or smaller paper clips.

Time required: 20 minutes
Difficulty level: moderate

Things you’ll need:
Orange felt
Grey felt
Boot Template
Embroidery Thread
Embroidery needles
Large paper clips
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Using the template, cut out two felt boots per ornament from the felt.

2. Sandwich the two boots together and cut a three foot length of embroidery thread. Knot one end and thread your needle.
3. Using either a running stitch or blanket stitch, sew around the edge of the boots to seal them together.

4. Bending the end of a paper clip up slightly, thread the end into the heel of the boot and along the bottom of the shoe to form the blade of the skate.

5. Add a loop of thread for hanging to the top of the skate.
