Spruce up your space with this spring-inspired decoration! Make several birds and create a garland, or display them on a branch for an adorable accent.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time to complete: 30 Minutes
Age range: 12 and Up

Things you’ll need:
Cardstock
Craft knife and mat
Tissue paper
Jute twine
Rhinestones
Glue stick

Things to do:
1. The first step is creating a bird pattern. Make the shape 3 inches tall and 5 inches long.

2. Trace the bird pattern onto a piece of cardstock. Once you’ve traced the shape, flip it over and trace it the other way. You’re going to glue the shapes together, so it’s important they are opposites.

3. Glue the shapes together.

4. Use a knife to cut a line for the wings down the middle of the shape.

5. Cut a 4×5 inch rectangle of tissue paper and accordion fold it.

6. Slide the folded tissue paper through the line you cut for the wings.

7. Cut a small hole in the top of the shape to attach your hemp cord.

8. Cut a 10-inch piece of hemp cord and tie it through the shape, creating a hanger.

9. Use a glue stick to attach a jewel eye on each side of the bird.
