How to Make a Lost Glove Monster

During the winter it’s pretty easy for your child to lose just one glove. Rather than throw the lone, surviving glove away, if it’s a knit glove, you can turn it into a lost glove monster” for an older child. This is a fun monster for casual play or display, and not meant for very young children because of the buttons and chance the filler can come out with aggressive play.

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Time required: 30 minutes
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
A knit-style glove
Buttons
Embroidery floss
Bit of felt
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Bean bag filler
Needle with large eye
Pen or pencil

Things to do:
1. Thread your needle and knot one end. Stitch buttons on the glove for eyes, as shown.

2. Mark the location for a nose.

3. Stitch a nose with a different color of thread. Warm up your hot glue gun.

4. Fill the glove with bean bag filler. Make sure the beads make it down to the fingers and thumb.

5. Stitch up the glove carefully, using close, even stitches. You won’t want the beads to spill out.

6. Cut out a mouth from the felt and hot glue it in place.
