How to Make a Doily Cake Cover {Video} Tutorial

Things you’ll need:
Large metal bowl or balloon
Fabric stiffener
Foam brush
Large doily

Things you need to do:

1. Start by placing your metal bowl upside down. Drape the doily over the top, keeping the centers aligned.

2. Apply a generous coat of fabric stiffener with a foam brush, being careful to cover the edges.

3. Gently pull all of the edges down tightly against the bowl and set it aside to dry.
4. When it is completely dry, stick your finger under the edge and gently work it around to loosen the doily. When the fabric stiffener detached from the bowl, pull your doily cover up slowly.

5. Display on a cake stand with your favorite desserts.

Balloon
1. Blow up an extra-large balloon.
2. Place a large doily over the top, sliding the top of the balloon through the center.

3. Use a sponge brush to apply a generous layer of fabric stiffener, The doily should feel damp and heavy.

4. Let it dry overnight.
5. Stick your finger under the edge and slowly peel your doily cake cover up and off of the balloon. If this doesn’t work, use a needle to pop the balloon.
