One of the worst feelings in the world is to have everything set up for a craft only to find that you are missing one essential ingredient. It’s usually something simple, like glue. Or perhaps you have some youngsters who love to stick things down but whom you’d rather not share your good craft glue with, either way, this simple recipe is for you. A homemade glue that is easy to make, easy to use and is made from ingredients you are sure to have in your kitchen right now.

Things you’ll need:
1 cup of flour
1/3 cup of white sugar
ice water
1/4 tsp white vinegar
Whisk
Saucepan
Airtight container

Things to do:
1. Sift flour and sugar together into the saucepan and then add enough water to form a thin paste, making sure that no lumps remain.

2. Heat gently over medium low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.

3. Stir in the vinegar and pour into an airtight jar. Allow the glue to cool before using.

    1. If you refrigerate the glue it prolongs the glue’s life for at least 6 months or longer.

      1. how long does this recipe last without being refridgerated? I want to make for my sons class but they dont have a refridgerator.

        1. Hi Monica, If you dont plan on refrigerating it, the glue should last for a few days in an airtight container!

  1. i would like to try this on some of my artwork and then seal it with gloss to see if it holds well or not.

    1. The bond of the glue is really strong, it just take a little longer for it to dry than store bought glue.

  2. Nice! I know that if you mix 50 white glue with 50 white vinegar and then use that to paint the backs of paper cutouts, and dry well…you will have lick and stick stickers!You can add a drop of food coloring to make it easier to see.I wonder if this glue would work for that.
