These cute jack o’ lantern hair pins are a fun and easy Halloween craft to make, to give, and to wear.

Things you need:
Orange and black thin, lightweight fabrics
A shallow tray or rimmed cookie sheet (one not used for food)
Medium paintbrush
Liquid fabric stiffener
1″ Pumpkin hole-punch (or a 1″ oval will work)
Micro hole-punch
Hobby knife
Cutting Mat
Black floral pips
Needle
Orange thread
Pencil
E6000 (Super Glue”)
Bobby Pins

Things to do:
1. Place a piece of orange fabric in the shallow tray and apply fabric stiffener with a paint brush. You don’t want to soak the fabric, but it should be completely covered and saturated. Allow to dry 1 hour. Repeat with the black fabric.
2. Punch out as many pumpkins (or ovals) as you plan to make from orange fabric. Using the micro hole-punch, make a hole in each pumpkin’s center where the nose would be.
3. With the pencil, draw two small triangles and one crescent shape for the eyes and smile. Use the hobby knife to cut out the shapes. Apply with a dab of contact cement to make the jack o’ lantern’s face.
4. Cut the stem from a black floral pip, leaving just a little near the ball. Insert the tip into the nose hole and secure it with contact cement.
5. Use the needle and thread to hand stitch the jack o’ lanterns to the hairpins just below the noses. Make small even stitches that don’t detract from the jack o’ lantern’s appearance. Secure the back of the stitches with contact cement. Allow to dry completely.
Repeat steps 3 through 5 for each jack o’ lantern hairpin.
