Guest Post: Creative Leftover Tissue Paper Turned Party Decor

Hi! Lisa here from Lisa’s Creative Niche and Happy Holidays!!! I hope you and your family are enjoying this fun (and most likely busy) time of year! And if you are like me you are also already thinking about all of those gifts you will be packaging up this year, but what do you do with some of the packaging after all of the gifts have been wrapped? Well, today I’m going to show you a fun and creative way to use tissue paper as the main component in your party decor.

Things you’ll need:
Tissue paper (a little can go a long way!)
Circle punch (or you can hand cut using a template)
Corsage pins
Stickers
Paper straws
Glue dots
Styrofoam ball
Grosgrain ribbon
Cardstock

Things to do:

Styrofoam Ball Decor
1. Punch circles out of tissue paper ( keep it folded when doing this so you can punch more at one time.).
2. Place one circle at a time on the ball and push corsage pin through giving a slight turn for a scrunched look. Do this repeatedly until the entire ball is covered.
3. Trim a strip of ribbon to form a loop and adhere with corsage pins on either side.

Embellished Paper Straws
1. Punch circles out of tissue paper.
2. Adhere circles, one on each side using glue dots.
3. Add stickers (optional)

Embellished Table Cards
1. Trim cardstock to 2″ x 4″ and fold in the center.
2. Adhere ribbon along the top of fold.
3. Punch circles out of tissue paper, layer them and adhere using corsage pin. ( you can choose to clip the back of the corsage pin and bend up to keep it held in, or simply bend it as I did )
4. Adhere stickers

There you have it! Tissue paper being used for more than it’s initial purpose, and it looks so pretty too! You could use these projects for a number of occasions and all of them are adaptable for your specific theme. Hope this gives you some new ideas and maybe opens your eyes to new uses of ordinary things!

Happy crafting!
Lisa
