Fun and Easy Pasta Snowflakes

This is a classic snowy day kid craft that I’ve used with children of all ages. They love to create one of a kind snowflakes from something as simple as pasta and are so proud when they see them hung on trees or in windows. The paint will help keep the pasta from disintegrating over time and the ornaments can be stored flat between sheets of bubble wrap between holiday seasons. Using a tray or piece of cardboard under the newspaper makes it easy to transfer the ornaments to a drying location without risking them falling apart.

Difficulty level: easy
Time required: 20 minutes plus dry time

Things you’ll need:
Newspaper
Pasta wheels
Craft glue
White paint
Paintbrush
Glitter
Thread or ribbon

Things to do:
1. Let kids start arranging pasta wheels into different shapes on a covered work surface. The possibilities are really endless so let them run wile with it!

2. Once they have their shapes, show them how to add small drops of glue where two pasta wheels meet. Press the wheels together and wipe off the excess.

3. When the shapes are put together, allow them to dry thoroughly.

4. Paint a light coat of white all over the pasta shapes and quickly sprinkle with glitter.
5. Allow the shapes to dry and then flip over and paint the other side, dusting with glitter before the new coat of paint dries.

6. Once the paint is dry, string on thread or ribbon and hang.
