Felt and Foam Spring Flower Garland Tutorial

Drape your home in flowers – fun, funky ones you make yourself, added to a cheerful garland mixed with some pre-made appliques! Invite spring into your home, and maybe keep it around for the summer!

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 1 hour
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Small flower appliques
Puffy flowers
Baker’s twine
Felt sheets
Foam sheets
Scissors
Needle with large eye
Card stock
Pencil

Things to do:
1. Draw some flowers on your card stock, and cut them out. These don’t need to be perfect; the point is for a funky and cheerful garland.

2. Trace these shapes onto your felt and foam sheets. You can make as few or as many as you’d like, to match the length of the area you’re draping these onto.

3. Select the flower appliques you’d like to use. Some of these can become flower centers for your felt or foam flowers.

4. Thread your needle with the twine. Don’t cut the twine until you’re done. Feed a flower onto the twine with the needle.

5. Continue adding flowers until you’ve used them all. You can place the appliques between the main flowers as desired, to fill out the look.
