Fairy Doors in the Woods

There is something thrilling about fairies… the mystery, the wonder, and the possibility that they just might be real. I loved it as a child, and love it still and I’m enjoying carrying on the magic of fairies to my children. With that in mind, I have a little surprise in store for them. Out in the woods near our house, there are, hidden away, a pair of fairy houses with magical little doors, locked, of course, only fairies an get in after all. These doors are simply made with paint and wooden plaques and are the perfect setting for a fairy garden, big or small.

Difficulty level: Easy to Moderate
Time to complete: 30 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Wooden Plaques
Paint
Glitter
Finishing nails
Hammer
Thin paint brush
Paint pen

Things to do:
1. Paint a base coat on the wooden plaques. You’ll want at least two coats, allowing each to dry before adding the next. Allow the paint to dry.

2. Using either the paint pen or paint and a thin paint brush, paint hinges and a door knob, and if you like, a window or other decorations

3. Add glitter to the fresh paint to make it look metallic and allow it to dry.
4. Once the door is dry, insert nails in places where they will blend in to the decorations, tapping them in just enough to keep them in place.

5. Nail the door into the trunk of an appropriate tree and decorate the space around to make a garden.
