Easy-to-Do Tissue Paper Tassels

These tissue tassels are a wonderful addition to gifts, wreaths, banners and buntings. And they are deceptively simple to whip up, making them a fabulous last minute decorating trick. If you don’t want a contrasting band around the top, you can glue the twist or use clear tape for a mono-tone effect.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 15 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Tissue Paper
Scissors
Washi tape

Things to do:
1. Fold a single sheet of tissue paper in half lengthwise, and then in half lengthwise again, and then once more.

2. One the long end opposite the folds, cut up in strips until you are 2 inches from the folds. You can cut narrow or wider strips to create different finished looks.

3. Cut along the long fold edge to separate the sections in half and then open up the sections and cut up where the center fold is. You will then have four long skinny pieces with fringe cut at each end.

4. Open up one of these pieces and then roll along one of the long edges.

5. Once you have rolled all the way up, twist the center section until it doubles over to form a small loop. Cut and apply a small piece of washi tape as a band around the lower part of this loop to secure the tassel.
