DIY Yarn Script

This is a great summer project for the kids and also a fun way to practice that cursive handwriting but it can also be a great way to make place cards or gift tags for big parties and events. Whether you’re planning on hanging them on the wall or having them grace that perfectly set table, these string names are a whole lot of fun to make.

Difficulty level: Easy, Moderate
Time required: 10 minutes plus dry time

Things you’ll need:
Wax or parchment paper
String or yarn
Scissors
Fabric stiffener

Things to do:
1. Cover your work surface with wax or parchment paper.
2. Cut a length of yarn more than long enough to write out your word or name.
3. Dampen the yarn a little with the fabric stiffener, once damp it should be easier to form the letters
4. On the wax or parchment paper, form the letters in cursive with the damp string, pressing down with your fingertip to help mold the letters into shape.

5. Once you have it spelled our, spray generously with fabric stiffener, making sure the string is well soaked.
6. Allow the letters to dry overnight then peel off and use the stiffened words!
